About Donald Sparks, Instructor

Mr. Sparks began his career in the private ambulance service in Richmond, BC, then  progressed to ALS Neo-Natal Paramedic, and Justice Institute EMA 1 & 2 Instructor with the BC Ambulance Service. After 13 years he changed careers. receiving loss control training for underground mining, as well as training in WHMIS, TDG Surface, Due Diligence, Radiation Safety and Hazardous Materials Incident Control. His training resulted in several Loss Control positions, including Construction of Westmin Resources HW mine and mill, Celgar Modernizations project, BC Hydro (Martech Elect.) 500,000 volt twinning project from Soda Creek to Clinton, and the Kemano Completion tunnel bore project.

During Mr. Sparks' time in industry and construction, he formed and headed several Emergency Response Teams, which included the Fibreco ERT at Slocan Pulp and Paper, which received several commendations, including the Office of the Fire Commissioner, the WCB of BC and the Township of Taylor.

Mr. Sparks went on to use his volunteer fire training, which began in 1976 at the Delta BC #1 hall to gain the position of Captain and Training Officer with several departments. With further education, he progressed to the position of industrial, and later, municipal Fire Chief.

During his time with the emergency services, Mr. Sparks attained the following training and certification:
