Our 1926 Oakland Landau Sedan

The old girl went home for the 100th anniversary of the Oakland Marque
The
History of our Oakland:
A
friend of Dave's dad bought it in Victoria in 1960 and towed it to Vancouver,
then parked it in a garage in the 200 Block of West 10th.
It stayed parked there ‘till the early '70’s when it was towed to the
Courtesy Auto Sales Lot at 12th and Main, where it was parked in a
shed ‘till 1985.
In
1985 the friend's son had the car painted, reupholstered, and the top redone,
then from 1985 to 1993 the car was driven THREE TIMES.
In 1993 the car was parked in a garage on Grandville Street in Vancouver
and was not run ‘till November of 2004, when the car was towed to a mechanic
who got it running again. The son
drove the car to an underground parking garage on Hudson Street in Vancouver,
and it was again parked.
Spring
of 2005 Dave became re-interested in the Oakland, as he remembered it from the
'60s and '70s, so we decided to buy it, and had it towed to our Shop in Sidney.
We got the car semi-roadworthy on 04 June 2005 and drove her through
Sidney that evening. On 05 June it was in the Old Tyme Memories Car
Show.......Only the sixth time it had been driven in 45 years. We think she was
glad to get out and about, where people could once again admire her good looks.
She's got only 11,117 miles on the Clock and some of her parts were Guaranteed
for 15,000.....guess we will be looking at warranty work soon!
